A dog and his master who fly over the Alps in a paraglider have thousands of followers

Passionate about paragliding for over fifteen years, Shams climbed the Alps before descending through the air. Since last summer, this 39-year-old videographer has been taking his dog Ouka, a three-and-a-half-year-old Samoyed, with him. The two accomplices are already followed by 89,000 people on Instagram.

“Ouka changed my life”, summarizes Shams in an interview granted to France 3 Auvergne Rhône-Alpes. The flying duo met only a few months ago, when Ouka, who had been abandoned several times, was almost three years old. “He needed me as much as I needed him,” says his master, suffering from severe depression at the time.

A dozen flights since last summer

Equipped with a special harness, the 27 kg dog gradually got used to the world of paragliding, the noise of the sails, running and taking off. However, Shams told our colleagues that the first flight did not last more than ten seconds…

Since then, the two accomplices have made a dozen trips. “He never showed any sign of anxiety,” says the paraglider, who regularly shares photos of Ouka on social media. Pictures on which we can see the Samoyed hair in the wind, with under the nose the broad smile characteristic of this breed of dog originating from European Russia and Western Siberia.
