“I think this dog had never seen Belle-Ile like this,” commented one of the Dragon 56 pilots after this unusual rescue. At the beginning of the afternoon, this Saturday, May 21, a Labrador probably slipped on a path during a walk with its masters in Sauzon, commune of Belle-Ile-en-Mer. In his fall, he was not injured but found himself stuck below a cliff. Unable to go up alone, he had to be rescued by firefighters from the Grimp (reconnaissance and intervention group in perilous environments) of Belle-Ile-en-Mer and brought to safety by helicopter by a firefighter from Lorient before returning to his bosses.
Two hectares of fir trees go up in smoke
In the process, the Morbihan Civil Security helicopter left the north of Sauzon to divert to the west of the island where a fir fire had just broken out. Dragon 56 helped the local firefighters to take the measure of the fire which was extinguished fairly quickly in the afternoon, after destroying two hectares of fir trees. A group of twelve firefighters was mobilized. Surveillance has been set up for the night from Saturday to Sunday.
