An 80-year-old woman was killed by two shotgun blasts in the village of Soings-en-Sologne (Loir-et-Cher) this Sunday evening. One of her 51-year-old neighbors quickly confessed. She was indicted for “intentional homicide with premeditation” before being remanded in custody. The 50-year-old faces life imprisonment.

Barking dogs would be at the start of this terrible affair. A few hours before the tragedy, in the afternoon, the 51-year-old neighbor had an altercation with the octogenarian. Quarrels that occurred regularly, said the public prosecutor of Blois, Frédéric Chevallier, in a press release. This time, it is the barking of the dogs of the companion of the mis en cause which would be at the origin of this umpteenth altercation.

She goes home to get a second rifle

A new argument broke out in the evening between the two women. And the situation degenerated shortly before 10 p.m. “The neighbor [de 51 ans] provided herself with one of the guns kept at her home with her companion and with cartridges. She walked past the gate of neighbors screaming that she was going to ‘kill her'”, says the magistrate. The latter managed to calm her down and recovered her weapon.

But the 50-year-old did not stop there: she returned to her home and grabbed a second rifle, stocked up. This time, she climbed the fence of the octogenarian and entered his living room, before opening fire on the latter. The victim was found “lying in the immediate vicinity of her sofa”. Emergency services were unable to resuscitate her. The autopsy showed that she had been hit in the right and left flank.

The suspect, who was with neighbors when the gendarmes arrived, was quickly arrested and placed in police custody. She “designated himself as the author of the shots”, mentions the public prosecutor. She spoke during her police custody of repeated clashes with the victim about the barking of dogs.

His companion evokes regular altercations

“I’ve lived here for thirty years and it’s been thirty years since the neighborhood disputes with this lady [la victime]
said the companion of the alleged killer, to
The New Republic.
“She couldn’t stand the noise of the animals or the smell of the neighboring farms”, he adds, referring to conflicts with several residents. His partner was followed by a psychiatrist
“to cure his depression” also specified this man.

A judicial inquiry has been opened and investigations are continuing. The Romorantin-Lanthenay research brigade was responsible for the investigation.
