It is a discovery that makes heartache. Sunday morning around 10 a.m., when she had just taken the dogs out of the pound, a volunteer from the association 40 In Cats had the unpleasant surprise of coming across two abandoned dogs in Carentan-les-Marais (Handle). The two beasts were hung by ropes from a post without the slightest sign of their owner.
“I don’t remember a similar case of abandonment, annoys Nathalie, a volunteer for 9 years. This doesn’t usually happen…”
Owner actively sought
The first abandoned dog, the youngest, is a cross with a German shepherd, “a relatively common dog”, black in color. He had no injuries or problems whatsoever. The second, a “sand” colored Labrador, is older.
“Certain marks of self-harm may suggest that the animal has been subjected to a high stress load. »
The association 40 En Chats specifies that the two dogs are not identified, the chip reader having reported nothing. “This doesn’t bode well, because people who don’t take the trouble to have their dogs or cats identified don’t really want to find them if they get lost. Otherwise, they would have them identified! »
A complaint to come
In order to find the owner of the animals, the association launched a call for witnesses before initiating additional proceedings. Depending on the elements reported, 40 En Chats gives itself the right to file a complaint against X in the coming days.
“We encourage people who may know these dogs to contact us. A neighbor, an acquaintance… All the elements are good to take! »
For the moment, the two abandoned animals are placed in the pound for the next two weeks. After this period, “we will try to find new owners…”
