In 2021, the yields of the funds in euros of life insurance contracts are still falling. However, some insurers have maintained stable returns.
This year is no exception. The performance of funds in euros is still down overall, even if some companies, such as Afer and MIF, are announcing stable returns for their funds, which remain at 1.70%. But many insurers post rates around 1%, or even less.
To achieve a minimum gain, insurers have no choice but to diversify their investments and not be content with government bonds. Essential for securing investments and guaranteeing the capital of savers, these supports remain very unprofitable. “Our performance is explained by a significant diversification of our investments, in particular in unlisted shares, which represent 9% of our portfolio”, welcomes Roger Caniard, financial director of the MACSF group. The fund’s return in euros on its RES Multisupport contract thus reached 2.10%, 0.55 points more than in 2020.
