Covid: a new strain of the more deadly virus developed by American scientists

This new strain of Covid is a combination of the Omicron variant and the original virus.

Boston University researchers have announced that they have developed a new strain of coronavirus in the laboratory, the US media reports FoxNews. The researchers would have arrived at this result by managing to extract the Spike protein from the variant Omicron and links it to the strain first discovered in Wuhan at the beginning of the pandemic. They then conducted experiments by contaminating mice with this hybrid strain.

“80% mortality rate”

“In mice, Omicron causes a mild, non-lethal infection, but the virus carrying Omicron S [la nouvelle souche hybride] inflicts severe disease with a mortality rate of 80%”the researchers said. The researchers from Florida and Boston add that the new stem contains five times more infectious virus particles than the Omicron variant but less dangerous than the original strain.

Boston University researchers say they have developed a new strain of COVID that has an 80% kill rate after a series of similar experiments first believed to have started the global pandemic that began in China.https://t. co/5ZhL25Rzia.
