Curry Goat Recipe


3 lbsbone-in goat meat cut into cubes
1 largeonion, chopped
6 clovesgarlic, minced
2 tbspvegetable oil
2 tbspcurry powder
1 tspground cumin
1 tspground coriander
1 tspturmeric
1/2 tspcayenne pepper
1 can (14 oz)diced tomatoes
2 cupswater
2bay leaves
2 tspsalt
1/2 tspblack pepper
1 largepotato, peeled and diced
1 largecarrot peeled and diced


  1. In a large Dutch oven or heavy pot, heat the vegetable oil over medium-high heat.
  2. Add the onion and garlic and cook until softened about 3-4 minutes.
  3. Add the curry powder, cumin, coriander, turmeric, and cayenne pepper. Cook, stirring constantly, for 1-2 minutes until fragrant.
  4. Add the goat meat and cook until browned on all sides, about 5-7 minutes.
  5. Add the diced tomatoes, water, bay leaves, salt, and black pepper. Stir to combine.
  6. Bring the mixture to a boil, then reduce the heat to low and cover the pot.
  7. Simmer the curry goat for 1-1.5 hours, until the meat is tender.
  8. Add the diced potato and carrot and continue to simmer for another 20-30 minutes, until the vegetables are soft and the sauce has thickened.
  9. Taste and adjust seasoning as needed.
  10. Serve the curry goat with rice or naan bread.
