Despite OTA update changelog, Samsung Galaxy Watch4 won’t get Google Assistant after all – Reuters

Earlier on April 20, Verizon rolled out an update to its LTE variant of the Samsung Galaxy Watch4 and Watch4 Classic. The online documentation originally posted with the feature update screenshots that enabled Google Assistant on both Watch4 models. The assistant has disappeared since the launch of smartwatches despite running WearOS 3.0.

Verizon’s changelog originally included these screenshots of Google Assistant functionality.

However, following the update, users were puzzled that the update would not bring Google Assistant. This was not the case until The edge contacted Google for clarification on the lack of the feature. A Google spokesperson responded with the following statement.

To confirm, Assistant is not rolling out to Gaalxy Watch 4 and we don’t have an update on schedule,” – Ivy Hunt, Google Spokesperson.

Verizon’s release notes have been updated to exclude the addition of Google Assistant. Other Galaxy Watch4 updates include support for backup and restore with Smart Switch. It is also now possible to take a body composition measurement via the target notification. You can view the full release notes on Verizon’s support site.
