Google is retiring its movie and series rental and purchase app

After closing Play Music, Google announces the retirement of another app. Google Play Movies & TV bows out.

Installed on all Android terminals, Google Play Movies & TV made it possible to rent and buy films and series on their smartphone, tablet or television, using their Google Play account for invoicing. Practical, but relatively little used, the service is now being retired early by Google.

As in the case of Google Play Music, the features of the service will remain available to users, but in another app. User purchases will be transferred to the Google TV service. Unused credits will also be transferred to the Google TV app.

In the case of Play Music, the features have been absorbed by Youtube Music, Google’s other audio streaming platform.
