Switching to Android allows us to transfer all content (contacts, calendar events, photos and videos) from our old iPhone to our new Android.
It’s always really tedious to change smartphones because you have to transfer all the content from one to another and reconfigure the applications that you use the most, but when in addition to changing your mobile device you also change operating system, from Android to iOS or from iOS to Android, the process becomes even more complicated.
For this reason, Google has just launched a special application so that you don’t have a hard time deciding to ditch the iPhone and switch to Android. That’s all Switch to Android offers us.
Switching to Android allows us to easily switch from iPhone to Android
Until now, switching from an iPhone to an Android phone was a very tedious process because you had to back up data to Google Drive and restore it manually. It is true that Android 12 has made it a bit easier for you by allowing you to transfer contacts, apps and media from iPhone, but only using a USB-C to Lightning cable.
But now, 9to5Google colleagues have discovered that Google has launched an app on the App Store that will ease the process of switching from iOS to Android. This app is called Switch to Android and it has reached the Apple App Store as an unlisted app, which means it can only be accessed through a private link accessed by the aforementioned medium.
So, as you can see in the screenshots that we leave you below these lines, when you open Switch to Android, the first thing that appears is a screen that explains that with this application you can transfer “photos , videos, contacts and more.”
Next, the Switch to Android app will ask you to select the data you want to transfer from your iPhone to your Android through an interface where you have to activate four switches which correspond to contacts, calendar events, photos and videos. Also, at the bottom of this screen, you will see a notice that only photos and videos that you have saved locally on your iPhone will be transferred to your new Android.
Once the backup of this data is complete, you will see a screen reminding you to turn off iMessage so that messages from your friends who have an iPhone are sent via SMS and not via iMessage.
Finally, the last step in this process is to request the transfer of your data from iCloud to Google Drive and Google Photos by clicking the Start Request button and then the Request to transfer a copy of your data option.
Why Some Google Features Are Coming to iOS Earlier Than Android
