Google launches new services to attract hotels

Google continues, year after year, to position itself in the travel sector. Witness the new services it is unveiling today. Free hotel booking links will now appear on the search results page and on Google Maps. And this, “in order to allow tourism players to extend their field of action and consumers to choose from a more complete set of options”, explains a press release.

These links are in addition to those already available and free on google.com/travel, an offer launched in 2021 by Google.

New reporting

The search giant is also creating new reporting in Hotel Center, identifying the number of people who have clicked on the free booking links.

“Google will expand the reporting tool to include free booking link impressions and booking value in the coming weeks,” the statement added.

Enrichments that occur as the market regains color, after two years of pandemic. The number of searches for things like “spring break” and “flights to Hawaii,” for example, is near levels seen in 2019, Google says.

Direct entry of prices

Other features of the American group will emerge over time, to help hosts sell directly. Even if it means annoying Booking and other Expedia.

Starting next month, eligible hoteliers will be able to add their rates directly to their Google business listing. Interested hoteliers can also fill out this form to find out more.

Google takes this opportunity to remind you that accommodation providers can provide a lot of information via “Google Business Profile”: the changes that have occurred concerning Covid-19, in particular whether the hotel is open or closed, the characteristics, images and videos of the hotel.
