Google has simplified the process of blurring any part of a photo as much as possible, and for this you just need to perform the following actions:

  • Open the Google Photos app on your Android mobile
  • Select the photo on which you want to blur the background
  • Click the Edit button
  • Drag the options menu that appears at the bottom left until the Tools button appears and click on it
  • Once done, two buttons will appear just above the bottom bar: Blur and Color Focus
  • Click the Blur button and select the part of the photo you want to bring into focus so that the rest is blurred

Once you have chosen the focused and unfocused areas, all you have to do is adjust the blur and depth levels, by clicking on each of the two buttons that appear when you click on the Blur option. With the Blur button you will adjust the blur level of the background and with the Depth button you will configure the distance from which you want to apply the blur.

Once you have edited the photo to your liking, just click on the Done and Save copy options and it will be saved to Google Photos.
