Lawyer and university professor Stéphane Baumont is dead. This figure of Agen life was 72 years old. His funeral will be celebrated next Monday.

Stéphane Baumont died on February 24 at the age of 72. He was one of those figures of Agen life that cannot be forgotten. Elected for a time, he was passionate about history and people, he was a lawyer, had taught law and politics at the University of Toulouse I.

He was the author of numerous works on the law and the institutions of the Republic. He had also – and many are the Agenais to have a copy – written a reference work on the History of Agen, from its first inhabitants until our century. A first edition was published in 1999, a second in 2014, enriched with new texts and illustrations, in paper and digital versions. Stéphane Baumont said in our columns during the presentation of his book: “There is no contradiction between our digital age and the attachment to academicism”.

The religious ceremony will take place this Monday, February 28 at 2 p.m., at the Jewish cemetery, avenue de la Gare, in Portet-sur-Garonne. The Little Blue and The Midi Dispatch send their sincere condolences to his family and loved ones.
