Life insurance: a return thwarted by inflation

The good news for life insurance holders is that returns have held up in 2021, despite marked disparities across contracts. Funds in euros – the secure media that serve as a reference for talking about the remuneration offered – distributed 1.25% on average, excluding bonuses, in 2021, according to our provisional estimate. The best even rise from 2.75% to 2.9% (see our list of winners in this dossier). The average revaluation in 2020 was 1.28%, according to the Banque de France.
