PSG takes an option by winning at Bayern Munich in the quarterfinals of the Women’s Champions League

They are on a mission. Unhappy finalists in 2015 and 2017, the Parisians are aiming for the Champions League for 2022 and they have already taken a small option on the last four by winning 2-1 against Bayern Munich, at the Allianz Arena.

They can thank Marie-Antoinette Katoto, a real poison for the Bavarian defense. She scored twice, following two corners: first by hitting under the bar after a big mess (19th), then with a superb header (71st). The international striker, author of a magnificent season (top scorer in the Championship with 15 goals), could also have obtained a penalty in the 33rd, but the referee decided otherwise.

Defensively, PSG suffered, especially after the exit of ex-Bavarian Sara Däbritz (41st). Feverish in the air in the 4th, saved twice by her post (66th, 79th), Barbora Votikova released a superb save in the 67th on a strike from Klara Bühl. But she couldn’t do anything about the powerful free kick from the German, who reduced the score (84th). Something to spice up the return match, which will be held on March 30 at the Parc des Princes, without Bayern side French Viviane Asseyi (suspended).
