FIFA decided on Friday to change its program after the draw by modifying the opening match of the 2022 World Cup. As tradition dictates, it is normally the host country, Qatar, which should have opened the competition next November 21 by facing Ecuador but the international body has decided otherwise.
It will finally be the other meeting of group A which will serve as the opening match, the poster between Senegal and the Netherlands which will therefore take place on November 21 at 11 a.m. The Qatari selection will face Ecuador the same day at 5 p.m. just after the second match of the tournament between England and Iran (2 p.m.). According to AFP, FIFA has not yet justified this choice to modify its programming.
