So you can see Red’s panda in augmented reality with the Google app

Google’s augmented reality will allow you to see the protagonist of the new Pixar film in first person.

Pixar’s “Red” hit Disney+ just days ago and has already become a hit. The new film from Disney and Pixar is on everyone’s lips and tells the story of a 13-year-old Chinese-Canadian girl named Mei who wakes up one day transformed into a giant red panda.

Google didn’t want to miss the chance to participate in the premiere and joined in with one of its augmented reality animations. All you need is your mobile and a few simple gestures to have the film’s characteristic red panda in front of you. We tell you how to see it with your own eyes.

Red, the new Pixar film arrives exclusively on Disney+ on March 11

So you can have a giant panda in your living room

All you have to do is open the Google app on your phone and search for ‘Red’ or ‘Turning Red’. The usual Google widget for movies will appear, with general information such as duration, characters or cast.

If you scroll down a bit, you’ll find a section that says “Watch Red Panda Mei in your space.” Click on “View in 3D” and point your camera at an empty space. In a few seconds, you will be able to see a panda dancing in augmented reality.

It can be quite surprising for little ones and, truth be told, it’s quite well implemented. It will receive room lighting and cast shadows on the floor and objects. You can also resize it or view it in full size, that’s not bad at all.
