Google recently launched a new app on the App Store. Called “Switch To Android”, it allows iPhone users to facilitate the transfer of data to an Android smartphone.
Google seeks to attract iPhone users
For many years, there have been two main categories of users: Android enthusiasts and Apple fans. If you want to switch from one operating system to another, the operation is rather tedious, mainly to keep your data.
In 2015, in an effort to attract Android users, Apple launched the ” Move to iOS » on the Play Store, to switch from a smartphone running the Google OS to an iPhone with ease.
To switch from iOS to Android, most manufacturers already offer an application similar to that of Google, like Samsung with Smart Switch, Huawei and its Phone Clone or OnePlus with Switch.
Migrate to Android more easily
According to Google, its new application “quickly and securely transfers your most valuable data—photos, videos, contacts, and calendar events—to your brand new Android device, without the hassle of cables”. There is actually no need for a cable to perform the data transfer. This goes through the Wi-Fi between the iPhone and the Android smartphone. Unfortunately, the SMS history cannot be transferred.
During the process, the Switch to Android application reminds you to be sure to deactivate iMessages before migrating so as not to miss incoming SMS on the new smartphone. To do this, just go to the iPhone Settings, then Messages and finally turn off iMessage.
At the time of writing this article, Google has not yet presented its application: it is indeed available on the App Store, but it is not listed. If you are interested, however, you can access it via this link.
A little more time? Did you know that the Pixel Watch, the connected watch from Google, will be announced soon?
