A man walking his dog was in for a surprise when he encountered an alligator on his way 100 miles off the coast in the state of Idaho, USA.

“He saw something moving in a bush and he spotted an alligator measuring 3-foot-5,” the Idaho Department of Fish and Game said.

The New Plymouth resident allegedly caught the reptile and put it in a horse trailer. He would then have called the Institute for Hunting and Fishing.

The alligator is currently being held at the department’s location.

Furthermore, this reptile cannot be found in the wild in Idaho.

“In all likelihood this alligator escaped from someone’s home and we are interested in locating its owner,” said Matt O’Connell, regional conservation officer.
