why a launch at Google I/O is possible

Google is reportedly launching its Pixel 6a at its Google I/O conference scheduled for May and new information suggests that Google is preparing several variants of the smartphone.

The release of the Pixel 6a seems to be getting closer than ever. While a launch was rumored for the spring, now the device is already certified by the FCC, the American telecommunications regulatory agency. A likely sign of commercialization if the past is to be believed as this is usually one of the last steps occurring a few weeks before a product launch.

There is therefore reason to hope for a presentation during the Google I/O of 2022. Obviously it is good to specify that nothing is confirmed for the moment.

Variations according to the network?

According to website information MySmartPrice, these are three separate models here that have been registered under the name Pixel 6a, these bearing the identifiers GB62Z, G1AZG, GX7AS and GB17L (the last two seem to belong to the same model). Google would therefore consider launching several models for its smartphone with probably different network configurations as was the case when the Pixel 4a was released.

The G1AZG model would support 5G mmWave while the others would operate on different spectra. It could be, according to Android Central, that these versions are in fact intended for the various American operators. Rumors would also report this time of a more global launch than that of the Pixel 6 which had not been launched in certain countries such as India in particular.

An affordable and powerful smartphone

The Pixel 6a would arrive with the same processor as the Pixel 6, namely Google’s new Tensor chip, which would make it a really powerful smartphone for its category. The design of the smartphone should also be very similar to that of the Pixel 6 with in particular the same rear photo module. The Pixel 4a (and the Pixel 5a which did not come out with us) were already good alternatives at attractive prices when they were released and there is no doubt that the Pixel 6a with this new chip will have the necessary potential to find its audience.

This strategy of placing recent chips in more affordable models is not new. Apple is also offering a 5G iPhone SE that features the same A15 Bionic chip that already equips the iPhone 13. The Pixel 6a would add a design similar to that of its flagships, which should make it quite popular with Google fans.
